The nuts and bolts of how to run a successful estate sale to be presented by Lynn M. O’Keefe, ISA in February.

(Gainesville, FL) – Estate sales professional and certified ISA appraiser Lynn M. O’Keefe will present a four day seminar February 25-28 in Gainesville, FL entitled “The Business of Estate Sales”. O’Keefe’s approach to operating an estate sale is based on solid business planning including analyzing the need for estate sales, business license acquisition from state to city, labor and contract concerns, file organization, pricing, client management, customer management, estate inspection, advertising and marketing, sale set up, signage, clean up and safety. She also will detail how to avoid common mistakes. Participants will receive an easy to follow, step by step comprehensive procedure manual developed by O’Keefe over four years and a Certificate of Completion reflecting lecture hours of Seminar and lecture hours of guest speakers.

This comprehensive package will be presented by O’Keefe with guest appearances by several professionals in specialty areas such as militaria, tin and iron toys, costume jewelry, genuine jewelry, rare books, art pottery and photography. The itinerary will also include a trip to the antiques mecca of nearby Micanopy, FL with visits to retail shops and talks with owners.

O’Keefe has operated Estate Sale Services in Gainesville since 1990, been an antiques dealer for 25 years, has been an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers since 2000 and a licensed Florida auctioneer since 2006.

The aim of the seminar is to impart the knowledge needed to make a good living running estate sales based on the premise that it is a business, not a hobby, and there is money to be made for both the client and the operator if sales are staged correctly and legally and run as a professional business venture.

The cost of the four day Seminar with field trips is $700 if paid by January 10, 2010 with further discounts available for appraisal, auction and ACA memberships. Group discounts for lodging are available at the Seminar venue, Homewood Suites by Hilton, in Gainesville.
