ANTIQUES & COLLECTIBLES NATIONAL ASSOCIATION
January 10-13, 2010
New Orleans, LA

The Antiques and Collectibles National Association will treat its members to three days of information filled opportunities.

(Davidson, NC) - ACNA is the Antiques & Collectibles National Association, the largest and fastest growing association of antique dealers & collectors in the country with over 3000 members nationwide. Today the Association provides personalized services and benefits for shop owners, mall owners, show promoters, all levels of dealers as well as private collectors.

The Association is holding its educational seminar “Help Your Future…Buy Your Past!” in New Orleans on January 10 – 13, 2010. This will be three days (Monday – Wednesday) packed with educational classes, networking opportunities, round table discussions, a trade show and a shopping trip to Magazine Street, the heart of the New Orleans antique district. Scheduled classes include Randy & Debbie Coe on glass and how the “go green” effort is effecting how people buy and use glass items in the kitchen; Fred & Gail Taylor on the identification procedures for antique furniture; Marcia Brown on costume jewelry; Bill & Carol Kearney & Christine Saltzman on estate sales-start to finish as well as all you wanted to know about auctions; Bill Rau on how to buy art; Barbara Mauzy on the American kitchen and how vintage kitchen items can replace plastics and their negative impact on the environment and our health and Connie Swaim on how to recognize fakes and reproductions.

The “hands-on” portion of the classes will include DiAnna Tindall offering both art restoration and frame restoration, glass repair by Paul Boyd and silver restoration by Beth & Dan Walker. All of this will be kicked off by Kyle Husfloen, author, past editor of Antique Trader, TV guest and lecturer as keynote speaker. Each attendee will be able pick their favorite six classes to attend. A high point of the seminar will be the roundtable discussions where participants will be grouped with other dealers and collectors of similar interests. During these discussions members will be able to throw out their ideas for discussion and to pick the brains of other members. These roundtables have long been a favorite among mall owners and now will be open to all attendees.

Headquarters will be the Hotel Monteleone, a facility with a long and impressive presence in New Orleans history. Movie starts, dignitaries, royalty and political kingpins are part of its colorful past and present. Check out the website www.hotelmonteleone.com and read about its awards, history and especially its ghost stories.

The registration fee includes the Monday night banquet followed by a charity auction for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Long lunch breaks will allow plenty of time to explore the French Quarter or just relax along the edge of the river. Tuesday afternoon is set aside for a shopping trip to the Magazine Street antiques district with the full support of the Merchant’s Association.

We all need to work at revitalizing our industry and this is a great way to make an investment in your future. You will gain knowledge, find out what is happening with other dealers and you will go away with the tools to increase your sales and profit. You will become motivated again! Don’t miss this opportunity!
